A Very Fancy 5th Birthday!

My daughter just turned 5! I honestly wasn't planning on throwing her a party this year - she had a pretty big one last year, and I just didn't have it in me (and to be honest, my husband HATES when I plan events...he wants to keep them simple, and I just can't!). But 5 is a pretty big one, and when Disney brought our favorite Fancy Nancy books to life, I couldn't resist throwing a sparkly party for my very fancy girl!

We rented kid sized tables and chairs, and had so much fun decorating the tables (by we, I mean my best friend and I - the hubby wanted no part of the decorating!). I printed photos offline of Fancy Nancy, added a candelabra and an eiffel tower. The colorful feathers really made the table pop, and it was an inexpensive addition! I also really love letter balloons, and just used packing tape to stick a little "ohh la la" to the wall!

The girls had a blast at the dress up table! I figured they would love it, but I really underestimated how much time they would spend getting fancy! I put out boas, crowns, jewelry, photo props and wands. They all looked very glam!

I tried to keep the food simple this year, but with enough to please everyone. I had popcorn, pink goldfish, berries and a veggie tray to snack on. Our pizza came from a great local spot and I got pizza trays so that I didn't have to keep out boxes - it just looked a little better, and more like the King's Crown! We also served two types of salads, I also made sure to grab every pink drink I could find for the adults! The straws were an easy DIY that made everyone's glasses look extra fancy. I made sure that all the girls had a personalized water bottle, because tea time was on the agenda, and I didn't want them too sugared up!

I rented tea sets, and the girls were such ladies with their cloth napkins and real china! Not one broken piece! They were served sparkling pink lemonade, and loved feeling so grown up. After the tea party, they all got their hair and nails down, picked from more accessories, and had a fashion show! It was seriously the cutest thing ever. They each picked a stage name and did a show for all of the parents. It may have been my favorite part of the day!

Instead of a cake, I had mini desserts for the adults, and DIY cupcakes for the kids. These art palettes were perfect for placing their frosting and decoration on! It really kept down on the mess, and I could ration out the candy and sprinkles.

My baby girl had the best time, and I think her friends did, too! Fancy Nancy was such a fun theme, and I wish we could do it every year!
